Personal Code of Ethics
When I think about the person I am with my family, at work, and in the world, there are two values that guide everything I do: reliability and integrity. These two values shape my relationships, decisions, and goals. I value reliability by doing what I say I will do and act with integrity by being honest and doing the right thing, even when nobody’s watching.
I’ve worked hard for over two decades to be known as a reliable person. I show this via actions and not just words. People rely on me because I’ve proven that my word means something. Barring sickness, death, or someone in the hospital, you can bet your life I will do what I say I will. Being reliable builds trust, which is important in both personal and professional relationships. I’ve seen when teams are built with reliable members, one can be sure the work will get done and on time.
Reliability aligns with my professional goal of working in leadership and client facing roles where relying on my advice, as well as my performance, is vital to business success. I enjoy being looked to as someone who will get the job done, especially in time sensitive situations. I plan on continuing a career where reliability is appreciated and noticed.
Integrity is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. Integrity also means being truthful and honest. I act with integrity both when it’s easy and when it’s inconvenient to do so. This value aligns with my goals of leading a team and managing client relationships. Whether I’m making choices, securing sensitive information, or leading others, I want to be known as someone who always does the right thing and speaks the truth. And part of being a trusted advisor to clients is having them trust what I say. They need to know that I have them and their company’s best interest at heart.
In conclusion, living a life based on reliability and integrity has helped me get to where I am and will allow me to continue building a future and career I can be proud of. These two values influence how I treat people, how I handle my career, and all around how I live my life. In a management role I would like to build a team where members can trust each other, support each other, and always make choices based on honesty and doing the right thing. I live with these values every day and will continue to work on myself and stay true to them. Hopefully I can be a role model for other team members to do the same.
Customer Service
Whether $250,000 or $250
No matter who the client, I give them the same top notch VIP service I would expect. Why? Because I’ve been the recipient of bad service myself. I evaluate those interactions and see what I would have done if our roles had been reversed
and try to make my service even better.
I love dealing with people and solving their problems. Let me give you one example…
At a client, they had called complaining they were having intermittent connectivity issues when scanning or printing to their MFP device as well as other issues with WiFi, teams rooms, etc.
After it got escalated to me, I called my client, and on the phone I showed compassion and understanding, explaining that I know how frustrating it can be that they can’t get their work done when needed. With the information the
client gave me, and checking the ticket history, I determined a site visit was needed so I could take a closer look.
When I went onsite I began troubleshooting and using NMAP, found there was a rogue DHCP server on their network causing devices to sometimes be on a completely different network. I was able to identify the rogue server as an old
VoIP fax adapter that someone mistakenly plugged in during a move. After determining it was no longer needed, it was retired. Through the RMM portal, I forced all devices to perform a ipconfig/ renew and their problems were solved.
Building Furniture
One of my favorite things to do is put together furniture. Ask anyone, I’m the guy they call when something needs to be put together.
Sometimes I think I was born with a screwdriver in my hand. 🙂
And yes, I follow the directions that come with it. There will be no screws left over when I’m done. 🙂
Solving Puzzles
I like to figure things out and learn how things work, or why they’re not working.
When challenged, I’ve got to figure it out. Like when I was told I couldn’t solve the Rubik’s cube.
Escape Rooms
Escape rooms are fun because they offer a unique, immersive experience that combines teamwork, problem-solving, and a thrilling sense of adventure, all while providing a mental workout and a break from the ordinary.
Port Security
I had a situation where when a new printer was connected, the port shutdown due to the violation. I walk through the situation in this video using a simulation and going over key concepts. Come along and join the fun and maybe learn
something new, or not. Click the image to launch the video.
